As I wrote this, I stumbled onto a headline about how Dick Cheney isn't going to be brought up on charges over the shooting incident. What bugs me isn't the fact that he's getting off... I mean, if it was a legitimate accident, and the guy's being given the best medical care possible, what's the problem? What gets me is that that particular article, plus two others keep going on and on about how Bush thinks that Cheney handled the PR disaster well... what the fuck does it matter if Bush likes the way Cheney gave that interview? I mean, arguments about VP Cheney being quiet about it at first aside, who genuinely cares that Bush thought Cheney did "just fine" in the interviews since? I mean, does Bush miss saying "I'm George W. Bush, and I approved this message." and wanted to get it out of his system? What, is tomorrow's headline going to be about Bush going through the White House lawn and pointing out his favorite flowers? Why is Bush's opinion of this so friggin' important? I'd genuinely like to know.
In unrelated news, I just can't stop laughing at the new Better Days, particularly the last panel. (Note: Not exactly a PG-rated strip, although I wouldn't classify this particular one as NSFW.)
